Illustrated Journal (Felix Inclusis)

This is a piece I found on Pinterest. I chose this piece for my illustrated journal because I feel a strong connection between this and what we just finished doing in class, abstract charcoal drawings. I drew my abstract charcoal drawing while listening to Shawn Mendes’s “Stitches,”  but when I look at this piece, my first thought is if the artist had been listening to a song, it wasn’t the most optimistic song. The artist strongly uses the element of Line in his piece. The lines the artist uses are thin and rough, which suggest a strong emotion behind the artwork; perhaps anger or melancholy.
